Walking On Horseback

on a sand puddled path
past roses   rose hips

an eagle gliding
sliding south over sea
breeze speed reading
pages ruffling
a book left open
on a towel

by a rock pool
imagery for eagles
while snow melt
     fell
from the hill

now poised on that one rock
if time did not take it
her neck wet with spray
sunlight flashing
wet hair

like memory leached
from stone walls
on the fells
a memory comprehended
that time
I was there
