I can write the words

Hoping you will hear them

Get into the mood

At times like these

When those in power

Are enacting a coup 

Do not cower

Do what’s right 

Get into the mood

When we the people are outraged 

And push comes to shove

It’s time for tough love

Get into the mood

Let’s all plan to march 

Like Martin Luther King

Who brought us all together

Not him who would be king

Get into the mood

Let freedom ring

If you can write the music

I can write the words

Truth won’t be shoved aside

Do not cower

Do what’s right

Get into the mood
