The Garden of the Golden Valley

By Tu Mu, Tang Dynasty

Prosperity
          lavishness
like scent
         just gone

Water runs on
grass grows each spring
in the evening breeze
birdsong sounds sad

Falling petals
a fallen beauty
once wrinkled
one’s gone
